Carlos Montoya essay

Informative even if you dismiss his style. I was brought into flamenco listening to him and marvelling at his phrasing and speed. He also possesed feeling and touch. Many consider him to be flashy but this was not always the case. When he was with RCA records his true style came through. After RCA he was with Everest, Stinton and many other companies and I am sure they pushed him into flashier and more non-flamenco styles. Many records credit him as the guitar player but he only plays one or two songs and another guy plays the lead parts in the rest. This could be one reason why there are so many differing opinions on his playing.
